Just boil down thinly sliced ginger in a sweet and savory sauce and your immune-boosting accompaniment to plain rice is ready.
Ingredients:
Makes 2/3 jar [780 mL/1.65 pt (US)/1.37 pt(UK)] of young ginger boiled down in salty-sweet sauce.
• Young ginger, thinly sliced (not peeled)......350 g/12.35 oz Note: You can use old ginger instead. If you don't like the spiciness of ginger, use thinly sliced ginger that has been boiled for 1 minute and drained.
• Shiro dashi/bonito broth......1 tablespoon
• Hon mirin/sweet cooking rice wine......1 tablespoon
• Cooking sake/cooking rice wine......1 tablespoon
• 40% less sodium soy sauce......1 tablespoon
• Honey......2 tablespoons
[1 Tbsp = 15 mL/0.51 fl oz (US)/0.53 fl oz (UK)]
