I'm playing a Burny Les Paul with Tonerider Alnico IV bridge (8k humbucker, 4k single coil) and Irongear Blues Engine neck (7k humbucker, 3.5k single coil) pickups through an 80s Music Man RD50 combo. Microphones are a Shure SM57 and Audio Technica ATM-25.
I wanted a Harmonic Percolator that sounded something like Steve Albini’s but couldn't find the sub-octave throaty HP-1 sound I was looking for - especially after I luckily got to record an old 70s original Ed Giese built Interfax HP-1 which sounded amazing!
Anyway, back in 2012, after more breadboard experimentation and research than is probably healthy, I came up with the the 1000 Hurts which has evolved into this!
