Xenovenator, a bizarre, new thick-headed troodontid from the latest Campanian of the Cerro del Pueblo Formation of Coahuila, northern Mexico. Xenovenator has a strange thickened, domed skull with fused and interlocking skull bones, adaptations seen in animals that use the head for combat. Although less asspecialized, it appears to be convergent on the head-butting Pachycephalosauridae.
