മറവിരോഗം ആർക്കൊക്കെ വരാം?

As we grow older, we can notice our brain power and memory decreasing in time. This is a very common phenomenon as a person grows old, their brain power and capacity decreases. In some cases this can be seen faster in a few people - this condition is known as Alzheimer's disease - which is a sort of dementia. Degeneration of cells in the nerves is known as dementia.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common case of neurodegenerative disease.

It is commonly seen among people above the age of 50. The first symptom is Short Term Memory Loss, whereas the Long Term Memory would be intact. Other symptoms include : behavioral changes - easily getting angry, repeating oneself over and over, acting like kids, no coordination in walking, not being able to identify oneself or even close relatives. Along with this the patient can get other diseases such as pneumonia. It is a slow progressive disease.

Alzheimer's is an inheritable disease. Through clinical diagnosis and special MRI scan we can determine if the patient has this disease.

After the patient has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, it is quite impossible to cure them, as it is a progressive nerve degenerative disease. But we can control it and even provide medication for temporary relief. What we can provide for the patient is care and support by building more organizations solely for the protection of Alzheimer's patients.
