Applications of TIMS- TOF technology in metabolomics and lipidomics for plant
science research were explored. The integration of trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS) into
small molecule research offers significant advantages in characterizing biological samples,
particularly in the separation of isobaric and isomeric compounds. Additionally, RealTime QC, a
novel quality control feature, were highlighted as an efficient method for monitoring LC, MS, and
TIMS parameters in real time as data are being acquired. Data analysis tools including MetaboScape
were demonstrated for the annotation of natural products metabolites and lipids, as well as methods
for isomeric species identification.
