Do you like Spaghetti? Then this post is for you. I share my experience observing for the second time in November, Simeis 147, a supernova remnant in the constellation of Taurus near Auriga. I share how I get there, information on how this was orginally identified as a supernova and then my sketches and observations from that night.
I have a post over at EadsyAstronomy at this with a ton of information so feel free to head over and take a look there. I love observing faint objects and the challenges they present to me. I love to test my observing ability, my eyes and equipment and the sky to see what I can see. This is a wonderful challenge for a visual observer and for those that image, it is a great winter time object to go after.
The star that caused this remnant exploded as a supernova it is estimated between 30000 to 40000 years ago! Astronomers have identified a run away companion star that was blown away from the center of the SNR and also a pulsar that they believe is the orginal star that blew. Here is the URL for the information over at Eadsy Astronomy if you want to learn more over there.
