I knew I had to visit the Tankwa - I had heard so much about the region and not just because of Afrika Burn - but I really didn't know what to expect. Well, I don't think anything can prepare you for what the region offers - the desolation, the extreme landscape, the eerie silence, the incredible vistas and the wind!! Nobody told me about the wind...
I was also determined to find surf - I hadn't been dragging my board through the Karoo for nothing - and the drive from the Tankwa to the West Coast introduced me to new roads and terrain that I will never forget. Truly breathtaking...
