How to make Swirly Nankhatai | indian Swirly Cookies |Mumtaz Hasham

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup butter (8 oz)
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup coarse sooji/semolina
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp cacao powder
Red and Green food color
(Butter and egg should be at room temperature). Bake at 350F for 12-15 mins in preheated oven.
METHOD:
Cream sugar and butter in a mixer (you can use food processor or hand beater if you don't have standmixer).
Add egg and mix, add flour, baking powder and vanilla essence and continue to mix.
Add semolina and mix and finally mix with spatula to incorporate everything together.
Prepare trays using parchment paper or silpat.
Make small balls of different colours, keep plain ones slightly larger. Arrange them alternatively in flower shape and gather together, then with the help of your palm make into cylinder shape and then make a dome, to get swirly design. Don’t flatten after making dome it may ruin your design.
Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. When cool transfer to a cooling rack. Enjoy!
