Hey team,
This is another part of the open guard series that we have been working. In this situation, as you try to apply the sit up guard, it is common for your opponent to push back into you and try to keep you flat.
This technique is a great way to respond and continue to have an "active" guard. As you feel the pressure, under-hook your own ankle and continue to grab your own shin. This will be a modified De La Riva for the no gi.
As demonstrated in the video, you can start to move on to the x-guard set up and/or single leg x set up.
Be mindful about when and where to push your opponent during the set up. Pay close attention to the ankle that I under-hook.
