End of the Line: GWR Castle Class HST’s in Cornwall before Retirement - 2025

The GWR Castle Class HST’s, aka Pocket Rockets, have become a regular on Cornish metals. Formed out of two Class 43 power cars and four Mk.3 coaches, they are excellent, long distance commuter trains. In four weeks time, GWR will be retiring their Castle Class sets after 7 years of service, replacing them with other multiple units from Wales. Therefore, it’s time to get one last compilation in, before they go. I had planned for a few more shots in the final cut; however, my day would end prematurely. Fortunately, I made a film on these HST’s last summer, linked below. Filmed across west Cornwall, shots were taken at:
