So guys, the beautiful Pastorale sonata is here! Beethoven wrote this piano sonata opus 28 in the year 1801. And besides being one of my favorite beethoven's sonatas, recording this piece was also a very special experience for me, since for the first time I recorded without Wim being there to help me. (read further below)

19:21 Andante (8=84)
32:43 Allegro vivace (H.=96)

This happened after we recorded the first two movements of the 5th symphony and since I was not so tired (it was 11PM), I asked Wim if I could keep going until late night. Wim looked at me, asif I was out of my mind, but at the end he just nodded off and so, I worked until 3AM.
Honestly, I was a little concerned about the result, because even though I recorded a lot back in the days in Los Angeles on my own, this time was different: for the first time since I started recording for this channel, Wim was not there to give me any musical suggestion. I knew that I had the responsibility to produce my best version of this sonata and that I needed to be on top of my game in order to have something good enough before having Wim's permission to publish it.
And so I started my long night there, alone, in front of that marvelous instrument, while everyone was asleep. It was one of those dead silent nights, where all you can hear is your breathing, your heartbeat and even the thoughts in your head. And suddenly, I felt like I was the only human being in the universe. And what I did, was something that I have never done before. I sat in front of the Fritz and for the first time after months and even years, I stayed there, in the silence, without playing. I was just thinking. Thinking of my story, my past, my experience in Los Angeles, the decision to come back to Europe and to say goodbye to a part of myself, that will never come back again. Thinking that I was there after one year, in that house, of that musician, recording that music on those instruments. A strange energy pervaded my body. I was still there, in front of that piano, not having played a note, in that silent...I opened my eyes, I posed my left hand on that low D and...magic happened!
