PAINTMODZ SHARK FIN AERIAL & WASHER BOTTLE BUNG INSTALL! | MAINTENANCE MODS | FOCUS RS

I install two maintainance mods from Paintmodz on my Focus RS!

The reason that I call these mods 'maintenance mods' is that although they are mods in their own right, I am doing them to resolve a couple of small maintenance issues.

Firstly and most simply, the washer bottle cap on my MK3 Focus RS has a cracked hinge. The cap and and hinge are all one piece and the hinge is very thin plastic so over 4 years of regular use and various heat levels (high and low), it isn't surprising that it has started to crack.

It is still functioning but I have decided to sort it out before it completely fails. My original plan was simply to buy a replacement OEM cap as these are easily available but then I found tat Paintmodz do a custom cap that is a bung design, so doesn't use the hinge and therefore the hinge would no longer be a future point of failure, and also has various colour and gel badge logo/colour combinations to choose from.

I decided that this was the ultimate solution as they look cool, I could match the design options to match my engine bay theme of black and red and also the bung design appeals to me for lifespan.

The second item from Paintmodz that I install on my Focus RS is the shark fin aerial finished in nitrous blue!

If you have watched my old videos, you may know that I have the stubby antenna from Sparco on my Focus RS which I had replaced the silly long flappy aerial with and indeed that I had the Sparco antenna on my MK7 Fiesta ST before I transferred the mod over after getting my Focus RS!

This Sparco antenna has been in faithful service for years now and still works perfectly and looks grand from a distance but get up close and you can see that the paint is flaking and fading in places so it is time for a refresh.

Instead of just getting another stubby antenna or refurbishing this existing Sparco antenna, I decided to go for something a bit different with the coo; shark fin antenna from Paintmodz!

Much easier to install than you may think, this shark fin aerial connects to the existing aerial and then slots over the top and sticks down onto the roof so doesn't require the factory aerial base to be removed!

I show the full process of installing, including nut and adaptor configuration as well as how to stick the shark fin on and how to get it done straight and true!

I also go through the prep work that I do ahead of the install both in putting together the washer bottle bung and also ceramic coating the shark fin antenna with Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour.
