I struggled with chronic Insomia when i had Anxiety!
I had insomnia really bad and my family knew that I always don't sleep that much so even if someone came home late at night they always called my name to open because they knew I was awake.What actually helped me was not caring if I actually slept. I had racing thoughts and my mind could go wild but I just let it do its thing. You actually forcing yourself to sleep and worrying about not sleeping is actually what is preventing you from sleeping. There are some misadvices out here that maybe you should change the position of your sleep, change sheets, change lightning, curtains, all those do not work. That means you will be doing something about your lack of sleep and the brain then interprets that there is something wrong. I could sometimes go for days without sleep but life had to just move on. I had to face another day cause I knew it's all anxiety. What I can advice to someone having insomnia is to go to bed and lie there. If you sleep it is okay,if not it is okay too. Eventually, you will be able to sleep.
PS: I didn't use any medication to help me sleep 🙂.
