Train Cab Ride NL / Delft Update / Amsterdam - Schiphol - Dordrecht / VIRM Intercity / November 2021

Hi everyone! Welcome on board a unique view on the Dutch Railways. Today we get to drive the intercity from Amsterdam Central Station via Schiphol to Dordrecht. On our way to Dordrecht you'll get a new update about the situation in Delft where ProRail builds the double amount of tracks we have available now between Rijswijk and Delft Campus. Enjoy!

0:00 Amsterdam Centraal
We start the ride in Amsterdam. Due to construction works elsewhere this train runs from Amsterdam instead of Venlo/Utrecht. In this video I will also sometimes give you a look on our newest TimTimPro. This is the tablet where the driver gets all the information about the trains path.

5:36 Amsterdam Sloterdijk
Normally intercity's don't stop at Amsterdam Sloterdijk (trains to and from Schiphol). But due to construction works today we do.

9:54 Amsterdam Lelylaan
Just after Amsterdam Lelylaan we will be led to the left tracks because of construction works in the tunnel of Schiphol Airport. Only two tracks available this weekend.

On the arrival in Schiphol there was a speed sign missing. As a driver you know exactly where speed signs are located. So when one is missing it stands out. Of course we let the train dispatcher know.

After we have passed Schiphol we are led back to the right tracks before we continue our journey on full speed to Leiden.

24:09 Nieuw Vennep
Between Nieuw Vennep and Sassenheim there's a bridge without overhead wires. At this point only the engines of the train are shutdown. The safety systems and lights will keep on working on the batteries of the train.

From here we normally have a train race between the intercity to The Hague and Rotterdam. But today the door of that train are closed sooner than ours. And also our speed is 40km/h until the signal at the end of the platform. Will we keep up? Check it out.

Slippery tracks on departure from this station. Slippery tracks must always be reported to the train dispatcher. So we make a call between here and the next stop.

As of there you can see the upgrade going on between Rijswijk and Delft Campus. New tracks are slowly getting their place now. Can't wait to be driving in the new tunnel at Delft.

The temporary speed limit has been changed from 80km/h to 120km/h for passenger trains. But because there's a delayed train ahead of us the signals demand an even lower speed.

A short call with the train dispatcher asking if we could be led around the delayed sprinter. But the train dispatcher let's me know it would effect us anymore. Perfect.
