With their training at Camp Hale, Colorado having culminated in the D-Series, 10th Mountain Division Soldiers were anxious to join World War II and help turn the tides in the Allies’ favor. Maj. Gen. George P. Hays soon took command of the division, and within a few short months, they were off to Italy.
