Equipment and ammunition
• BB gun- Any shoulder held smoothbore BB gun with metallic sights, in which the propelling force is developed through the use of a compressed spring, gas or compressed air. No alterations of factory manufactured BB guns may be made except as provided in these rules
• Internal modifications- only factory manufactured parts designed for the specific model gun being fired may be used. Parts in the gun may not be removed and all parts must be in their correct position and functioning in their designed manner. Electronic triggers are not allowed. Internal parts may be honed or polished to improve their intended function, but such improvements may not alter their intended function. Guns must operate safely.
• Audible timing device- audible timing devices are not allowed.
• External modifications- a single layer of tape or non-glare paint may be placed on the barrel for the purpose of reducing glare no other external modifications are permitted except as provided in the rules.
• Stocks- factory installed stocks may be altered in length. When shortening or lengthening a stock, the butt must be identical to the original equipment. The butt of the stock may be roughed, checkered, or scored to provide a non-slip surface. No further modification to the stock is allowed. Material such as sandpaper, emery cloth, adhesives, rubber or rosin may not be added to any portion of the stock or forearm. Stocks may be repainted or left unfinished. Hook butt plates or thumbholes are not permitted.
• Sights- sight modifications may be made only as follows: a) Metallic receiver sights, from any manufacturer may be substituted for factory sights and mounted on the receiver of the gun. B) adjustable rear-apertures and eye cups are not permitted o blinder for the non-shooting eye may be attached to the rear sight. C) a hooded front sight with interchangeable inserts may be used, however, no portion of the front sight may extend past the end of the barrel.
• Ground cloths- ground cloths or mats with maximum dimensions of 1.25 x 2 meters (49.2 x 78.7 inches) in size and a maximum total thickness of 5cm (1.9 inches) me be used provided it is not constructed or used in a manner to provide artificial rest or support, ground cloths shall not be used in standing.
499b disassembly
1. Remove the buttstock. (3 screws)
2. Remove the cocking lever. (one machines screw, nut and lock washer)
3. Remove the two long machine screws and lock nuts that hold the trigger in place
4. The safety is secured in the trigger assembly by a plastic tab. Look in from the back of the shroud and observe the tab. Also, observe the pawl spring that is tensioned by the safety. Use a needle nose pliers to squeeze the tab against the safety, then pull the safety out.
5. The trigger assembly can now be removed from the gun.
6. Remove the rear sight to allow use of the special plunger tool.
7. The plunger assembly is held in place by the spring anchor. The spring anchor is located in a slot 3.75 inches un front of the rear sights. A special tool is required to compress the plunger spring so the anchor can be removed.
8. The special tool has to fit inside the plunger tube housing. Maximum diameter is .845 inches. A 10 inch long piece of ½ inch schd.40 plastic pipes works great. The tool also has to fit over the edged of the back of the plunger assembly. Cut a 9/16 inch wide slot that is 2.5 inches long in one end of the pipe.
9. The tool is inserted from the back of the housing to compress the plunger tube spring. Pull the spring anchor out of the top of the barrel shroud, then remover the plunger assembly.
