Welcome back to our America’s Great Loop adventure! Day 10 brought unexpected challenges as we worked to get our starboard engine back in shape. After days of making do with duct tape and bailing wire, the long-awaited engine parts finally arrived—but not without throwing a wrench into our smooth run.
We kicked off the day with high hopes, cruising along scenic waterways and enjoying the serene beauty of the Loop. The calm waters and vibrant skies made for an idyllic morning, but everything changed when we hit the next stretch. The starboard engine, held together by temporary fixes, started showing signs of strain.
The long-overdue arrival of replacement parts gave us a glimmer of hope to restore the engine’s performance. Docking in a nearby marina, we rolled up our sleeves to tackle the repairs. With tools in hand and determination fueling our efforts, we started swapping out the makeshift fixes for the real deal.
But as with anything mechanical, things didn’t go entirely as planned. While installing the new parts, we faced a few unexpected hiccups that put our patience and problem-solving skills to the test. Despite the setbacks, we managed to make significant progress by the end of the day.
The highlight of the day came as the sun began to set. We paused our repairs to take in one of the most breathtaking sunsets we’ve seen so far on the Loop. The fiery hues reflecting off the water reminded us why we embarked on this journey in the first place—to experience the beauty and challenges that come with life on the water.
