After catching the yard job switching in South Dallas, I checked the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) schedule and figured out that I could make it to this crossing minutes before a TRE train would pass. I quickly headed north and parked nearby and set up my camera. As predicted, the westbound train came flying through with an F59PH in the lead!
This crossing is quite an interesting one. Within a couple of years of my filming here, this road was reconstructed during which a lane was removed to make room for the wonderful and much-needed shared-use path which I set my camera up on. When that happened, this crossing was entirely replaced featuring a hodgepodge of gates with equipment made by Siemens and Western Cullen Hayes. In the mix are two cantilevers and four electronic bells; two from General Signals and two from Siemens. The signals also took an unusually lengthy amount of time to deactivate once the train cleared. All in all, this is quite a unique crossing and one I am glad to have recorded even if it is pretty modern equipment-wise.
