背紋や附紐飾りに用いられたモチーフは、昔のお裁縫の教科書なども、かなり頻繁に見つけられます。一つ一つの名前や意味の解説は基本的にありませんが、それでもバラエティ豊かなデザインで面白いので調べてみると楽しいです。

背守り（背紋）の風習や迷信については、こちらを参考にしています。

この本によると「元来は単に装飾であろうが、それに色々の俗信的説明が結びついて来て居る」とあるのが興味深いです。背守りが盛んに行われたのは明治時代だそうで、地域によっても呼称や言い伝えに違いがあるようです。（ちなみにこの本はいろんな風習について書かれているので面白いです。）
