NORTH DOWNS WAY - START from Farnham to Shalford

'Twas the second day of the New Year and all was still ... well, not quite. I wasn't for a start. Then there were a few pooch-walkers but no 'through-trekkers' setting off from Farnham in Surrey on the first leg of the North Downs Way. The weather was unseasonably sunny for England - crisp and cold and even. So I risked bus and train from home to Farnham rail station, planning to hike the first 13 miles of the NDW and catch the bus home from Shalford. Only three weeks earlier, I'd hiked the second leg from Shalford to Box Hill, so I'm trekking the NDW in an unorthodox order. But this was a good initial trainer for my fundraising trek on either the Cape Wrath Trail or Wainwright's coast-to-coast. I do all these treks for my disabled son's care home, so I need to be shipshape by late April this year.

BTW - the stats at the end of this clip are wrong. I trekked 13.47 miles and the altitude gain was 930 feet.
