Happy New Year everyone! As the mainline steam scene takes a break and heritage railways catch their breath after a busy Christmas season, it's time to reflect on the year gone by. Last year was the biggest year yet for Second Valve Steam, so let's look back through our highlights.
In total, we visited no fewer than thirteen heritage railways and seven mainline railtours, covering over seventy-five locomotives in the process! I made an effort to record more narrow gauge steam action, hence videos from Beamish Museum, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Threlkeld Quarry and the Vale Of Rheidol Railway. We headed abroad for the first time to the Isle of Man, which has to be be my personal favourite event of the year. Locomotives came and went, such as the long-awaited return of LNER Peppercorn A2 60532 'Blue Peter' and the withdrawal of LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' 46590 'Leander'.
So, what does 2025 have in store? Planning is still in the early stages, but another exciting year lies ahead. Thank you all for your continued support. Keep tuning in for fresh steam railway content. Make sure to check us out on Instagram at / secondvalvesteam for photos and updates.
