Max Lee who is an Undergraduate Student at Carleton University, discusses the tension between personal fulfillment and social responsibility in the context of COVID-19 and societal norms. Our actions will always affect those close to and afar from us, so we must train ourselves to live responsibly. There are three important questions we can ask ourselves as we navigate daily life:
Why am I doing this action?
Who am I affecting with my action?
Is the cost of my action worth it? Or is there a more responsible way to achieve what I want?
Max is a 4th-year Global and International Studies Student specializing in Global Law and Social Justice at Carleton University. He is passionate about human rights, legal philosophy, and public policy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
