Results of a groundbreaking trial co-led by Zheng-Yi Chen, DPhil, of Mass Eye and Ear, found that children born deaf treated in both ears with a novel gene therapy restored hearing, speech and the ability to identify where sounds were coming from. The researchers hope this study opens the doors to testing gene therapies for other genetic and non-genetic causes of hearing loss.
