From the Grand Opening of the Evel Knievel in 2017. the first floor tour. The museum is dedicated to Robert Craig “Evel” Knievel — famous American motorcycle daredevil, stunt performer, entertainer.

It holds the largest collection of authentic Evel Knievel memorabilia in the world.

It was founded in 2017 in Topeka, Kansas.

Founders include Lathan McKay, Mike Patterson, and James Caplinger.

The Topeka museum was about 13,000 square feet, two stories.

Evel’s original motorcycles (jump bikes), plus his performance gear — leathers, helmets, wardrobe.

“Big Red,” his famous Mack truck & trailer, which he used for transport.

The Snake River Skycycle X‐2 — the rocket‐cycle he planned to use to jump the Snake River Canyon.

Interactive exhibits like:
• A “4D Virtual Reality Jump Experience,” letting visitors feel what it might be like to do one of his stunts.
• A “Broken Bones Interactive” showing real X-rays of injuries he sustained.
• “Plan Your Jump” challenges, and other ride / engine / mechanics interactive displays.

Lots of memorabilia: helmets from crashes (Caesars Palace, Wembley, etc.), personal effects, screen‐used artifacts.

Named one of the Top 10 Best New Attractions in 2017 by USA Today.

Received a Thea Award (from the Themed Entertainment Association) for being one of the best new attraction experiences in America.

The Topeka location closed on November 2, 2024.

It is being relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, with reopening expected in 2025.

The new site is a much larger space: conversion of the Mission Linen building, at 1001 South 1st Street, downtown Las Vegas (Arts District). About 32,000 square feet.

Along with the museum, the development will include some “edgy” additions: a heavy‐metal themed pizza parlor, retro arcade / carnival style games, etc.

Evel Knievel is bigger than just motorcycle stunts — he’s an icon of daring, risk, pop culture, and spectacle. The museum preserves not just the gear and bikes, but the story of risk, showmanship, failure & perseverance.

The interactive elements make it more than “just old stuff in display cases” — you can experience aspects of what he did (virtually), see up close what went wrong (crashes, broken bones), etc.

For fans of motorsports / daredevils / 20th century Americana, it’s a unique collection.
