Mental hygiene is the science of maintaining mental health and preventing the development of psychosis, neurosis, or other mental disorders.
Warning signs of poor mental health
In younger children
1. Change in school performance
2. Poor grade despite strong efforts
3. Excessive worrying or anxiety
4. Hyperactivity
5. Persistent nightmare
6. Persistent disobedience
7. Aggressive behaviour
8. Frequent Temper tantrums
In adolescence
1. Abuse of drugs and alcohol
2. Inability to cope with daily problems and activities
3. Change in sleeping or eating habits
4. Excessive complaints of physical problems
5. Intense fear of gaining weight
6. Long-lasting negative mood
7. Poor Appetite
8. Thoughts of death
9. Frequent outburst of anger
In adults
