🚉 Arrival at Ningxia Night Market (寧夏夜市) | #NingxiaNightMarket #TaipeiEats
The adventure begins in Taipei at Ningxia Night Market, marking the third night market visit of this trip.
The market is bustling and focused almost entirely on food, stretching about one block and packed with hungry locals and travelers.
🧀 Street Eats Kickoff: Breaded Cheese & Shrimp Stick | #StreetFood #SeafoodSnacks
First up is a breaded cheese and shrimp stick, fresh from the deep fryer.
The snack is drizzled with honey mustard (other sauce options available), giving a crunchy, gooey, and surprisingly substantial bite.
Both travelers agree it’s tasty and filling—a nice opening snack!
🍳 Green Onion Pancake (蔥油餅) / Chinese Pizza | #OnionPancake #TaiwaneseSnacks
Next, a green onion pancake (sometimes called Chinese pizza), a street food classic.
This fluffy, salty, and greasy flatbread is stuffed with egg and cheese, making it super satisfying.
It’s cheap (35 TWD, just over $1 USD), flavorful, and perfect at any time of day.
🔥 Flame-Grilled Cubed Beef (火焰骰子牛) | #Beef #FlameGrilled
The spectacle of the night: cubes of beef cooked with a blowtorch.
The beef is fatty, juicy, and coated in black pepper and sea salt for a simple yet flavorful bite.
Not the most tender cut, but packed with flavor—small portion costs 100 TWD (just over $3 USD).
🥤 Papaya Milk (木瓜牛奶) | #PapayaMilk #TaiwanDrinks
Time for drinks! A refreshing and creamy papaya milk is the beverage of choice.
It’s sweet, fruity, and not overloaded with sugar—tastes more natural and fresh.
The drink comes in adorable panda-bear packaging; other fruit milk flavors are available as well.
🥔 Double Cheese Potato (王子起司馬鈴薯) | #CheesyPotato #TaiwanSnacks
A comforting baked potato loaded with cheese whiz, parmesan, and herbs—piping hot and satisfying.
For 60 TWD (under $2 USD), it makes a great street snack. The cheese isn’t gourmet, but it hits the spot.
🍞 Coffin Bread (府城棺材板) – Dessert Time! | #CoffinBread #TaiwanDessert
For dessert, it’s Coffin Bread, a deep-fried thick toast shaped like a box (“coffin”) and filled with tapioca pearls and brown sugar.
While the concept is visually fun, the flavor is a bit underwhelming—mostly deep-fried dough with little sweetness.
Suggestions for improvement include more brown sugar or adding ice cream for extra flavor.
🍢 Market Impressions & Tips | #TaipeiMarkets #TravelTips
Ningxia Night Market is smaller and more traditional compared to Shilin and Raohe, with fewer food choices but a lively, authentic vibe.
Most stalls are food-only (no clothing or trinkets), and despite being pedestrian-only, expect to dodge the occasional scooter or bicycle.
Directions: Take the Taipei Metro red line, get off at Shuanglian (雙連站), Exit 1, then walk two or three blocks to find the market on your left.
🌟 Final Thoughts & Recommendations | #TaipeiFood #TaiwanTravel
Most of the food was a hit, especially the green onion pancake and cheesy potato.
While Ningxia has less variety, it offers a more traditional and focused street food experience.
If you love food adventures, it’s well worth a visit for the atmosphere and unique Taiwanese flavors.
