Welcome to The Clubhouse Roundtable.
This is a biweekly, beautifully unscripted mess where four middle-aged endurance athletes prove that runners are, in fact, capable of talking about things other than splits, Strava segments, and who forgot to stop their watch.
Inspired by LeBron James’ Barbershop conversations and that legendary moment when Carmelo Anthony casually chatted with Timothée Chalamet, Jason Bahamundi pulls together Santino Williams, Joe Hardin, and Derek Sprau for conversations that feel less like a podcast and more like sitting in a coffee shop post-run when everyone’s sweaty, caffeinated, and just honest enough to overshare.
In Episode 1: A Beautifully Unscripted Mess, the crew tackles the big question none of us signed up for but all of us are living in: how are we actually surviving in a world that feels permanently set to “on fire” mode?
From mental health and toxic masculinity to learning how (and when) to protect your peace, this episode wanders, intentionally, through the topics that don’t fit neatly into highlight reels or training plans.
There’s laughter. There’s vulnerability. There’s a cycling peloton analogy that somehow explains friendship, burnout, and why you need people willing to pull when your legs (or your soul) are cooked. There’s also a passionate defense of Juan Soto, because apparently that’s still a thing. And yes, we ask the question endurance athletes secretly avoid: is running a form of therapy… or just a very athletic form of avoidance? (Answer: yes.)
Things get delightfully weird when the group dives into a word association game that proves once and for all that quick decisions are overrated and overthinking is basically a sport. Add in nostalgic chaos such as rotary phones, beepers, stolen college WiFi, payphones and an unexpectedly serious conversation about how a cashless society continues to fail unhoused communities, and you get the essence of this show: conversations that start nowhere and end up somewhere meaningful.
Throughout the episode, each host shares how they decompress when the noise gets loud. Jason escapes into Real Housewives zen. Joe builds things with hand tools in Indiana (when his internet allows). Derek stares thoughtfully at docks. Santino spins vinyl.
Meditation comes up, and is immediately identified as terrifying, along with the dangerous lie of doom-scrolling as “self-care.”
The episode closes with genuine celebration, real friendship, and a reminder that we’re more than our running shoes. We’re humans first, musicians, makers, overthinkers, trying to be better in a messy world.
No sponsors. No polish. No pretending we have it figured out. Just four friends, spotty Indiana broadband, and honest conversation.
New episodes drop every two weeks, exclusively on the Run Tri Bike YouTube channel.
Welcome to The Clubhouse Roundtable. We truly have no idea what we’re doing and that’s the point.
