Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this compilation we review The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway's flagship loco their LMS Black 5 45212 between 2017 & 2019.
The former Speke Junction (8C) of Liverpool & Lostock Hall (10D) of Preston was bought direct from BR traffic in August 1968 by the Worth Valley Rly after hauling the last regular steam hauled revenue earning service for British Rail.
During her preservation career as a heritage rail locomotive she had a spell of operation at The North Yorkshire Moors Railway under the care of Peter Best on behalf of KWVR & with a brilliant reliability record during that time earned her a call for mainline work & she was under care again this time on a 10 year contract with Riley & Sons Engineering Company that overhauled her to mainline running condition including the fitting of air brakes & the major safety equipment to enable her to return to the mainline for the 1st time since being withdrawn by British Rail back in August 1968.
Our 1st filming encounter of 45212 was on her mainline test runs 1st a light engine test run from The East Lancashire Railway to West Coast Railways depot at Carnforth (10A).
Then eventually on a loaded test run on the Carnforth circle via Hellifield, Blackburn & Preston which included going past the site of her old home at Lostock Hall were she ended her services with British Rail.
The test run was a success & she was ready to return to mainline revenue earning service & after appearing at the KWVR Spring Gala straight after the test she came back to The East Lancashire Railway to take part at their Spring Steam Gala more on that in a moment.
We mostly feature her on engine & coach moves on the national network as most of her revenue had been in Scotland working alongside Ian Riley's own black 5's in 44871 & 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier.
We have also have the added bonus from 2020 of 45212's move to Carnforth (10A) from Southall (81C).
We move onto her operations at The East Lancashire Railway between 2017 & 2018 including taking part in the 2017 Spring Steam Gala celebrating the engines that were based at Lostock Hall shed in steam days including on board footage between Bury & Rawtenstall.
We end this compilation at her home on The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway as we see her in action between 2018 & 2019 facing both ways North & South.
She was facing north at the time as she was the understoody for fellow KWVR resident The Bahamas Locomotive Society's 45596 Bahamas incase the jubilee ran into any trouble at the time.
We end with lineside shots of 45212 heading south from Keighley to Oxenhope.
Thanks for reading enjoy the compilation of Black 5 45212.

While 45212's home The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is closed until further notice caz of Covid-19 the railway needs vital funds.
The railway needs to raise £200,000 to survive through the pandemic. With your support you are ensuring that the railway will survive for many more years to come.
The same is with the East Lancashire Railway aswell they need vital funds to survive & as many have seen in the railway media that £10,000 worth parts of the railway's LMS crab 13065 currently under overhaul was stolen before the lockdown started on March 23rd.
With your support it will make a massive difference & your donations will be very appreciated to both heritage railways.
So please donate what ever you can to ensure there will be a heritage railway when they are reopened to the travelling public when all the restictions in socialising & mass gatherings are lifted.
Here is the links were you can donate right now. Thank You.
