Evolution of Drift Events in Need for Speed (2003 - 2024)

The Volume 7 update for NFS Unbound has been released and it not only added drag races to the game for the first time but also some revamped drift events called "Drift Pro" with a completely new drift handling. Drift Events were first introduced together with drag races with the original NFS Underground, where you could increase your point multiplier up to 5 and get bonus points for drifting near the edge of the track. The mode returned in Underground 2, which also added some mountain tracks. Carbon, ProStreet and the Shift games also had drift events.

NFS Unbound had drift events in single player from the start but the Volume 7 update added some brand new "Drift Pro" events in the online mode of the game with an updated scoring system and new drift physics, which can be accessed by equipping specific tires to your car.
