Reconnecting on 'Blue Monday' at Ouse Fen | Nature Diary | Wildlife Photography

I didn’t realise until I went to post this that today is so-called Blue Monday…the middle of the very long month of January where Christmas feels an age since, and yet the days are still grey and short and spring seems too far away.

I am fortunate in that I don’t suffer too bad mental health wise, but I always feel a little despondent and fed up at this time of year. Living where I do at the edge of the Fens there are few places to get a good walk in without wellies (I can’t walk far in wellington boots!) and mud - and I hate mud! So sometimes days pass and I haven’t managed to walk much, there are only so many times I want to walk along the main road…headphones in for exercise is one thing but it’s not that conducive to wildlife photography - neither is the endless greyness!

Added to all that I am still unsure what I am doing here on YouTube, imposter syndrome is still there snapping around my heels, and well let’s just say I needed to get out for a good length of time and reconnect with the outdoors, wildlife, nature, my camera and myself.

I had no idea what kind of video this would be when I started off at Ouse Fen this morning but I hope you enjoy it and if you are feeling a little ‘blue’ right now I do hope it passes soon. Take care. Tx
