Brain fog isn’t always a brain problem — it may start in your gut.

In this episode of House Call, Dr. Dan Monti explains how the gut microbiome can influence focus, mood, cravings, sleep, and “leaky brain” inflammation — and gives you a simple 2-step plan to reboot your gut–brain axis.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
🟡 The gut–brain “real-time” signaling pathway (your microbes can influence behavior fast)
🟡 Leaky Gut → “Leaky Brain”: how inflammation can travel from gut to brain
🟡 The 3 modern drivers that damage the gut barrier:
1) Ultra-processed foods
2) Chronic stress (cortisol + immune activation)
3) Antibiotic overexposure (including food-chain exposure)
🟡 A 2-step science-based reset:
STEP 1 — REPOPULATE (fermented foods)
STEP 2 — FEED (diverse fiber / “30 plants per week”)

THE 2-STEP PLAN (START HERE):
✅ STEP 1: REPOPULATE with fermented foods
Start with a few tablespoons a day (kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, yogurt, miso, etc.).
If you don’t tolerate fermented foods, a quality probiotic may be a practical alternative.
