👏STEROIDS WON'T SOLVE EVERY SKIN PROBLEM👏

I might not be a doctor, but the reality is that #topicalsteriods won't solve all #skinproblems
.
Especially when u have an infection
.
Skin infections can become extremely debilitating + painful
.
And a steroid will not clear an infection
.
Period
.
Since I work with clients who are prone to infections, I read up on the signs so when a client messages me starting to experience a flare, I'm listening for 🚩🚩🚩 that warrant a recommendation to see their doctor pronto
.
One client in my practice is dealing with #topicalsteriodwithdrawal who was blown off by 4 different doctors about her severe rashes🤦♀️
.
And of course was told just to use stronger #topicalsteriods after refusing to do a skin culture
.
Her symptoms were so severe that I truly worried about an infection in addition to TSW (which definitely can happen)
.
▶️ I told her to go back AGAIN + list out every symptom in clear terms
.
To say "I've done everything you've asked, but I'm worse so I'm asking u to please do a skin culture"
.
A culture ❌IS NOT❌ the same as a biopsy
.
Finally her doctor agreed to do a culture which interesting came back negative but agreed with me that she likely had some sort of infection going on
.
A week into antibiotics + she was in 50% LESS pain than she was prior to starting them👏🎉
.
For her, it was a huge leap in the right direction
.
I share this because steroids aren't the end all, be all
.
They serve a time + place
.
But they are a bandaid 🩹
.
And infections need to be identified + addressed
.
This is something that I've interviewed Dr. Peter Lio about several times on the Healthy Skin Show podcast
