As a beginner sailor, this is a very special moment. This video documents my first passage to Santa Catalina Island with our boat precisely one year from my first sailing lesson. I depart from our home port of Dana Point to make a 7.5-hour passage to pick up a mooring at Isthmus Cove, Two Harbors. Not only was this tough as a beginner, but doing it singlehanded in high winds made this incredibly challenging. This is just the start as many more explorations of the Channel Islands will come.
