Dungeons and Dragons kept showing up in my life lately—podcasts, shows, random articles—and I couldn't stop thinking about why. So I'm trying to figure that out here.
I grew up in the eighties when D&D was genuinely seen as dangerous. Satanic panic, concerned parents, the whole thing. I stayed away. Made the safe choice. Now I'm 59 and watching the same game become completely mainstream, and something about it won't leave me alone.
I've never played. Don't know the rules. Might hate it. But there's something interesting about being a complete beginner at this age, walking into something with zero expertise and no idea what I'm doing.
This video is me thinking through whether to try it, what's drawing me to it, and what it means to follow a curiosity you can't quite explain.
No answers. Just questions. Which is kind of the point of this channel.
