Waryam Sandhu is a Punjabi author of short stories and novels. He was born in Nanke, a village in British Punjab, in 1945. He is a B.E. and B.A. graduate and has worked as a school teacher and a lecturer. He has won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his short story collection Chauthi koot in 20001. His works have been translated into Hindi, Bengali, Urdu and English1. He is known for his social and political themes, his poetic language, and his inspiration from various cultures and traditions.
