I was away from Heather in long-term care for 12 days!

Due to a cold I stayed away from Heather at Northwood long-term care for 12 days… it’s the longest I’ve been away from her for a very long time. Follow along to see how I learned a little more “letting go” as a spousal dementia partner, and about a few changes that took place over the past couple of weeks.

BACKGROUND
Heather first started showing signs of memory issues in early 2021, and in October 2021 she received the diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia, which is a form of frontotemporal dementia. Her cognitive decline since then has been rapid and steady, as frequently happens with early onset dementia. Her mobility has degraded at the same time, making the situation even more challenging.
