What started as a calm, routine training session quickly spiraled into one of the most intense moments we’ve ever filmed.

At the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the gorillas voluntarily participate in medical training that helps their keepers monitor heart rate, draw blood, and assess overall health. But when young Kunda decides she wants the treats meant for her mom, everything changes—fast.

In a split second, Mokolo, the 400-pound silverback, charges into action. Thanks to three cameras filming at once, you’ll see this rare moment from every angle as the troop reacts and the keepers remain astonishingly calm.
