The Conservation status of the Western Lowland gorilla is “Critically Endangered”.

Cleveland Gorilla Troop - Quick Facts:
Mokolo: 36-year-old silverback, came from Lincoln Park Zoo in 1994. Dad to Kayembe and Kunda.
Fredrika: 49 years old, came from Zoo Miami (2017). Kayembe’s surrogate mom; raised 4 babies.
Kebi: 32 years old, from Columbus Zoo (2017). Mom to Kunda and Kambera Dupe (now at Zoo Atlanta).
Nneka: 25 years old, from San Francisco Zoo (2018). Birth mom to Kayembe. Struggled with maternal care.
Tusa: 32 years old (turning 33 Dec 2). Smallest, lowest-ranking female. Hand-raised; arrived from Albuquerque Zoo (2019).
Kayembe: First gorilla born at Cleveland Zoo (Oct 26, 2021). Playful and active two-year-old.
Kunda: Born July 19, 2023. Daughter of Kebi and Mokolo.

Gorilla Geography:
Africa = 54 countries.
Western Lowland Gorillas live in just 6: Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon.
