The 27th of April is Kingsday (Koningsdag) in the Netherlands. This national holiday on the king's birthday celebrates community and national unity. The color orange be seen everywhere. It is the national color and a reference to the king's family name (Van Oranje-Nassau). On this day, there are large parties on the streets of Utrecht. Half of the city centre is closed to all traffic to facilitate several festivals and a large street market, where everyday people offer things for sale. In this video I cycle around the centre, and through it where I'm able. Then I go into the more residential area of Tolsteeg, where there is an event targeted mostly at families with children. Even further, in Hoograven, there are fewer people in the streets. A lot of them are have likely gone to one of the events elsewhere in the city.
