This is a Taoist practice that has been passed down for thousands of years. The purpose of the first pose is to accumulate Qi (energy) in the Dantian. It is also used to awaken our spiritual perception.

If there is enough air in a balloon, its surface will be smooth and elastic. When there is insufficient air, the surface of the balloon will be wrinkled and lack elasticity. Our human body is the same. If you are full of Qi, you will be young, but if you are deficient, you will look old. This is the meaning of this Qigong.

If your body is healthy and your five internal organs are not diseased, the effect will be faster. If your internal organs are diseased or under-functioning, then you need to improve their function first. Because Qi comes from the internal organs, if the internal organs function well, the Qi will be sufficient, and if the internal organs function poorly, the Qi will be deficient.
