The Accra Metropolitan Assembly, under Chief Executive Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has announced a strict clampdown on illegal trading along the city’s red lines and unauthorized roadblocks.
Market women and traders occupying restricted areas will be relocated to designated markets or their shops, while illegal road barriers will be removed immediately by authorities. The move aims to restore order, improve accessibility, ensure public safety, and enforce existing city regulations ahead of a major decongestion exercise in February.
