In this recipe, I'll show you how to make Banda ko Sadheko Achar, an authentic cabbage salad from Nepal.
This salad combines fresh, crisp cabbage with a warm dressing made from roasted tomatoes, garlic, chili, a spice-infused oil (known as "Tadka"), and a squeeze of lemon juice.
In Nepal, this salad is often served as a side dish with Dal Bhat (lentils and rice), but it also pairs wonderfully with anything else. This Asian coleslaw recipe is easy and done quickly.
A note on the spice level: This recipe is not too spicy. However, if even a mild chili is too much for you, feel free to use a bit of fresh bell pepper instead.
And a quick note on the oil: Traditionally, this dish is made with mustard oil, which has a very unique flavor. Since it isn't always approved as an edible oil in the west or can be hard to find, I'm just using regular Canola oil. It works as a great alternative.
