150 years of the Mountain Division: Conway Scenic chase to Fabyans - August 2025

On August 2, 2025 the Conway Scenic Railroad celebrated 150 years of the Portland & Ogdensburg Railroad that built what is now the Mountain Division. They ran a special excursion from North Conway to Fabyans Station to celebrate. A live band and a cannon was set up as part of the event and the railroad's owner also made a speech. He discussed his plans to reopen the Mountain Division to Portland, Maine for freight use. This video shows the train at various spots between Intervale and Fabyans, the event itself, then the chase back.
It should be noted this line was unused for a decade and NHDOT and the Conway Scenic Railroad brought it back to life. This year the line is busier than it has been in decades as the railroad is running more train to keep up with the demand. Some other interesting operations are scheduled later in the season and I hope to document those when the time comes.
