Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim has been touting a recent initiative called "Task Force Barrage," which saw more police deployed to the city's Downtown Eastside neighbourhood, as a reason violent crime rates have dropped in the city. Independent Coun. Rebecca Bligh — formerly of Sim's ABC party — said the mayor has done little to address the root causes of crime — like unaffordable housing — in his years on the job.
