Strasburg Railroad Santa's Paradise Express 2017

Christmas and Trains go great together. So I decided it was time to head to the Strasburg Railroad to see the Santa Paradise Express trains. #90 and #89 were doing duties today, 89 had just gotten back from her rebuild in October so I wanted to see her with her fresh paint and looking all beautiful. I first set up at Paradise Ln. where some driver took out one of the WC Hayes crossings that Strasburg Railroad had installed last year. 89 was coming in with the 12:30 train while 90 was out with the 1:00 train. Next I moved to Cherry Hill Rd. where the two trains would meet. I have heard that Groff's Grove is the only place in America where 2 steam powered trains pass each other on a daily schedule. 90 was coming with the 1:00 train and 89 was headed down with the 1:30 train. After 89 passed I expected the engineer of 90 to ease out of Groff's Grove. The engineer of 90 was showing off as today as 90 had given me the biggest show of my life! After 90 left my mouth hit the floor. 89 now was heading back to Strasburg with the 1:30 train and 90 with the 2:00. After 90 passed I expected 89 since they had her out for at least 2 months, the engineer would be gentle. The engineer was not! 89's pistons made her "walk" up the track and it was another awesome show! Again 89 and 90 would meet with the 2:00 train and the 2:30 train. 90 gave off another great show! After 90 left I went up to the Strasburg Station to see 90 pull out with the 3:00 train. 89 came in with her last 2:30 train. Then 89 put her consist away and I got to see them put 89 away for the night, which was pretty cool. 90 came in with the 3:00 train and was ready with her last train which was 4:00. #90 then departed with the 4:00 and I was done, cold and I couldn't feel my fingers anymore. It was an truly amazing afternoon, and its all thanks to the Strasburg Railroad!
