Around the World, Kite 360 or Deadmans Turn are all names of the latest trick I've been learning.

Welcome back Kite foil addicts.
It's been a while since I uploaded anything here so I thought I would share my latest progress on the "Around the world" trick. This is my fifth session trying them and I'm starting to see some consistency. As is always the case my sweetest attempts happened just after Cathy took the camera away. I start of with a few nearlies and include some complete Kite 360 s and even some nice fails at the end.

The trick involves the kite flying a full 360 around the kiter without falling from the sky. It also involves an extremely fast and wide toeside 360 followed by a tight toeside carve.

I'm super stoked to get this trick as it is one that amazed me years ago when I saw videos of dead man's turn done with Kite Buggy. Recently when I saw Steven Akkersdijk's master class video I realised that it is something I needed to try on the Foil.

He explains how to do it very clearly with many different angles. I didn't have the foil that he recommended but I figured my foil although much smaller should work.

As you can see It worked a treat!!!

Foil:
Axis Foils 545 front wing, 340 rear wing, Tray 94cm board with the 96cm carbon mast.

Kite:
9m Core Xlite on 12m lines.

Wind: Side shore, NE 12-16 knots

I'm very grateful that Cathy was patient enough to catch me completing the trick. She floated around during most of the 40 attempts.

I managed to ride out of 12 of the 40 attempts with 5 cleanly foiling and 2 perfect (Not on camera)
