North Vernon is a city in Jennings County, Indiana which was established in 1817. North Vernon is extremely unique because it was founded by two Civil War heroes. Colonel Hagerman Tripp and Hiram Prather. North Vernon has some wonderful hiking trails, stone canyons, and beautiful wooded hillsides. The Muscatatuck River almost surrounds the town of Vernon. The Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge and River are great for outdoor activities, found in Jennings County.
