Boots was stuck in this spindly Pine tree for a full week, and he was tired, scared, and grumpy when I got in the tree with him to rescue him. He growled most of the time but finally let me touch him and pet him. It took me 20 minutes in the tree with him to soften him up enough where I could safely secure him in the cat bag shortly before sunset. I have done rescues that were much higher than this one, but this one felt higher because there were no limbs on the tree below 65 feet. Adding to the effect were the wind gusts that were swaying us back and forth. One of the most difficult aspects of this rescue was simply getting to the tree because we had to push through very dense undergrowth for a long distance to reach the tree while carrying my tree-climbing gear. Fortunately, it was mostly open around the tree.
