Hi Everyone!
My name is Dan, and I am a veterinarian. In this video I cover the pet anesthesia machine. This is the machine that will keep your pet under anesthesia during surgery. Anesthesia machines are pretty similar between veterinary clinics.
The anesthesia machine has oxygen tanks attached to it for delivery of oxygen and anesthetic gas to the patient. The oxygen is controlled by a nob which is the oxygen flow meter. The high the flow meter is set the more oxygen that is developed with anesthetic gas to the dog or cat.
The anesthetic gas is either isoflurane or sevoflurane. Our anesthesia machine uses isoflurane. The anesthetic gas can be increased or decreased by a nob as well.
The gas is delivered to the patient through a tube. The patient breaths in the gas and stays under anesthesia.
There is a collection system that collects CO2 and unused anesthetic gasses.
