Bret Weinstein is an American evolutionary biologist, podcaster, author, and public intellectual. He is best known for his academic background in evolutionary theory, his high-profile departure from academia, and his subsequent career as a commentator on science, society, and controversial topics.

He earned his PhD in evolutionary biology from the University of Michigan and taught as a professor at Evergreen State College in Washington from 2002 until 2017. During his time there, he conducted research on topics like evolutionary trade-offs, the evolution of cancer and senescence (aging), and adaptive patterns in complex systems.
